WelcomeTo The Wet Mountain Valley"I Found This Valley Many Years Ago…"
There are only 3500 people in Custer County and 40% of the land is a part of the San Isabel National Forest or owned by the government. Wildlife and wildflowers are in abundance. Lakes and streams are numerous in the 13,000/14,000 ft. peaks of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains that dominate the western horizon.
The valley floor
contains 100 year old homesteads, founded by a German
Colony after the Civil War, and some of their
descendants still raise cattle and horses here.
Fishing, hunting, hiking are enjoyed by many and the activities
during the summer, from the rodeo to
western/jazz/bluegrass music festivals, make this a very
nice place to live.
Most of my life was spent in a rural farming community in eastern Kansas where I worked for many years as an elementary librarian/teacher. Every year during summer break my family and I would head for Colorado. I never thought I would leave Kansas but my love for the mountains and the climate in Colorado was just too great and I moved here permanently 10 years ago. I have not regretted it. I bought a small gift shop (The Sunflower Patch) in the heart of the business district and I sell real estate full time as an independent broker. I have met so many wonderful people in this valley that it is now home. If you are interested in buying mountain property, check out www.outwestmls.com, www.custerguide.com, or www.martinandtope.com. All the agencies in the county are listed on "outwestmls.com" If you have any questions about anything listed by any agency, please give me a call. I'll be more than happy to help you.
